Thirty-one out of 61 barangays of Bacolod have been declared Covid-free by the city’s Emergency Operations Center-Task Force yesterday, after no new cases have been reported in these areas in the last 14 days.
Declared Covid-free are barangays 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 31, 33, 34, 36, 37, 38, 41, Sum-ag, and Punta Taytay.
Two weeks ago, the EOC-TF reported that 28 out of 61 barangays in Bacolod had been declared free of the coronavirus disease.
Despite this, the EOC-TF reminded the residents to continue cooperating and observing minimum health protocols.
For Councilor Lady Gles Pallen, who heads the Association of Barangay Captains in Bacolod, the declaration of more Covid-free barangays in Bacolod can be attributed to the efforts of barangay officials as well.
City Administrator Em Ang, who is the EOC-TF deputy administrator, said that, hopefully, more barangays in Bacolod will be declared Covid-free.
Ang noted that lately, most recorded Covid cases are due to close contacts, hence, the public is reminded to avoid mass gatherings.
“Based on the reports of the EOC, there is a pattern for infection during these gatherings. We have to be vigilant and careful so we can maintain and sustain the lowering of cases,” Ang said.
Quoting Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Ang reiterated that people should unite against Covid-19 and not be complacent.*APN
