House approves Bayanihan bill 2

House Bill No. 6853 or the Bayanihan Bill 2 which provides for COVID response and recovery interventions was approved by the House of Representatives on third and final reading Monday.

Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya yesterday said the bill, which he co-authored, provides the amount of P27.5 billion for healthcare workers and the country’s healthcare system.

The bill provides for an expanded testing, special risk allowance, free life insurance, and other benefits for healthcare workers, personal protective equipment and face masks for barangay health workers and other indigenous persons.

Gasataya said it also includes P126.6 billion for economic recovery and livelihood for micro small medium enterprises, cash for work displaced workers, agriculture industry, transportation sector, tourism industry, assistance to local government, overseas Filipino workers and TESDA scholarship.

The Bill also provides P7.9 billion for education including digital education and alternative learning for DepEd, subsidies and allowances for students, teaching and non-teaching personnel, development of smart campuses in state colleges and universities, he said.

Gasataya said they will continue to exercise their oversight functions as legislators to ensure the swiftness of the delivery of aid to the public.*
