Silay City Mayor Mark Golez wed Anne Azcona last week at the Virgen Sang Barangay Chapel of Sta. Clara Subdivision in Bacolod City.
Due to the pandemic, only immediate family and the wedding entourage attended. Mayor Mark is the son of successful businessman Jimmy Golez and socialite Tess Jison of Silay, while Anne is the daughter of the late Eddie Azcona and beauteous Cecile Piccio.
Principal sponsors were Alfredo Benitez, Susana Ortigas, Rudy Concepcion, Rosario Cuaycong, popular Negros Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer, Guia Gomez, Eric Golez, Xenia Jison, Atty. Mark Jalandoni, Dolores Lopez, our beloved Negros Governor Eugenio Lacson, Regina Piccio, Congressman Joseph Paduano, Carmen Peterson, Atty. Antonio Pastelero, and Josephine Regalado.
Candle sponsors were Hernan Lopez and Sylvia Golez. Veil sponsors were Jose Ma. Salvador and Georgina Orilla, and cord sponsors were Arsenio Jison and Cristina Poblador. Best Men were Jose Aguila, Joseph Ejercito, and Jose Peralta while Therese Tolentino was Matron of Honor.
For the Bridesmaid, cousin Mia Piccio looked dainty in a pale pink terno. Groomsmen were able Congressman Francisco Benitez, handsome Talisay City Mayor Neil Lizares, EB Magalona Mayor Melvin Malacon, Victorias City Francis Frederick Palanca, and Murcia Mayor Gerardo Rojas.
But the heavyweight political namedroppables were just a postscript to the main story which was the 16-year love affair of Mark and Anne. Since Anne was working in New York State’s Long Island as a dialysis nurse and Mark was busy with his political career in Silay City, the cosmic forces only went into full gear last August 2019 when he proposed to her in the iconic Central Park of the Big Apple.
All through the years, either Mark would visit Anne in the US of A every six months, or she would come home the other six months. How wonderful to know that this beautiful and hardworking couple didn’t just jump into married bliss, but made sure that they would live happily ever after. I really believe they are meant for each other and give them my love blessings.
The PET/CT Center at Centuria Medical Makati in Barangay Poblacion is the current go-to for patients from all walks of life, especially those coming from Bacolod, Capiz, Iloilo, and Aklan.
This is because my good looker Conlu relative, Dr. Raymund Augustus Conlu, is the medical director, a topnotch Nuclear Medicine specialist with almost 20 years of experience in the field of imaging. He also heads other Nuclear Medicine centers in Western Visayas, like the Nuclear Medicine departments of St. Paul’s Hospital of Iloilo and the Health Centrum of Roxas City, Capiz.
I first met Dr. Munich (his nickname) when I attended the first Conlu family reunion in Iloilo and we became friends immediately. The Conlu family has a horde of successful entrepreneurs and I’m proud to say it was the first family gathering I attended with no fees for all the luncheons and dinners held. Dr. Munich would bring his lovely wife and daughter to Paris annually until this kill-joy of a pandemic stopped everything in its way.
Dr. Conlu is proud of his PT/CT Center in Centuria Medical Makati because patients now have a choice of a non-hospital setting for their PET-CT scan. It has a homey, spa-like ambience to make patients feel relaxed during the procedure and manned by well-experienced, competent, and caring staff. Top it with the dedicated personal attention of Dr. Augustus Conlu, no wonder he just celebrated the 3rd year anniversary to the first stand alone PET-CT Center in the Philippines. More power to you, prims!
My prayer: Praise the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendour and majesty. He wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretched out the leavens like a tent. Psalm 104:1-2, NIV*
