If you ever get arrested in the next few days, don’t forget to smile, or at least, look your best. Why? The police will soon be furnished with body camera that will record your apprehension and the result may be used as exhibit later, so be sure you look your best! Really, that is not a bad joke, I heard that our own police are taking a cue from their counterparts in other parts of the world, and will be equipped with those “body cams” when they come to haul you in.

Of course we have all learned about bodycams from TV as well as news items from other parts of the world, and I believe some of our cops in the metro areas are already equipped with them. I believe these gadgets will be beneficial, especially to those under arrest, as any misdeed of the cops, like beating up or manhandling of those they arrest, will also be recorded and taken against them. But I don’t know yet when our own government will be able to furnish our cops nationwide with this cameras that could also serve as “silent witnesses” to any misdeeds of both the arresting officers and the ones being arrested.

If you had been thinking that the COVID disease has already been conquered in our country, disabuse your mind, and continue to observe all those “protocols” being required by our Health Department. The last report that came out said no less than 22,000 of our people have been victimized fatally by this virus, and I believe the statistics came only from urban areas where reporting is easier. Who knows about the ones attacked by it in the rural areas, especially among those who did not even recognize the new disease? So let us not let our guard down yet, especially those who have had no access to the proper vaccines.

In Manila, reports say that malls and moviehouses are being made vaccination centers where people can walk in for their shots. That is commendable of the owners and operators, because such activity could reduce their sales, with less shoppers and moviegoers willing to patronize them, knowing that such activity is going on in them. I understand that such vaccinations are free and those who do not take advantage of those, and later get stricken by Covid, have only themselves to blame. I hear that now, adolescents are already eligible for vaccinations, so I hope parents will take note and have their children undergo it.

Meanwhile, the Health Department has reportedly advised that even those who have been vaccinated against the COVID should still continue wearing masks and face shields while this pandemic is still raging. Let’s not be obstinate, let us follow such instructions that could be life savers. The inconvenience is nothing compared to what one may suffer after being hit by this new virus.

How come vaccinations are reported to be rather slow in Japan? The country is believed to be quite modern and up-to- date medicine-wise. Maybe there are also people there who are reluctant to undergo vaccination? The last news I heard was that the country is now into the fourth wave of cases, and that is puzzling, because it is known to be advanced in medicine and healthcare. Maybe the climate has something to do with it?

Good news for senior citizens: If you have been vaccinated, you can now go out freely and not cause harm to others, nor can they infect you. Isn’t that justification enough for undergoing that tiny prick of the needle? It can give you a lot of freedom, you know, so don’t hesitate, go and get “shot” now and feel as free as you have always done. Having undergone the required stabs myself, I assure you, it’s not so bad, but can give you a feeling of freedom as well.

I guess he really meant it. I am referring to the declaration of President Duterte that he is not running for reelection, nor is he encouraging his daughter, now Davao City mayor Sara to seek the office after him. I think he doesn’t want her to undergo all the travails he went through in the position, but which ambitious people with agenda of their own are longing to hold. I am sure several are now casting longing eyes at his office, and which one do you think he will endorse? That is anybody’s guess right now, but let’s keep a good watch to find out who is the “chosen one”.*
