Bacolod Rep. Greg Gatayaya requested the Bacolod City Police Office yesterday to investigate the source of fake news that his office will be releasing the second tranche of financial assistance to the LGBT sector.
Gasataya said that yesterday he has provided the police the contact number of the source of the text message spreading fake news that the Congressional Office will be releasing cash assistance to the LGBT sector yesterday at the Bacolod City Hall.
The solon recalled that a similar misinformation was spread during the Enhanced Community Quarantine early this year that left many residents in some barangays lining up along the highway hoping to receive assistance from his office, putting their health at risk.
Gasataya said that if ever they will be giving out assistance, this will be announced through his official Facebook page, or relayed by the Congressional Office directly to the beneficiaries.
He is reminding the public not to believe right away text messages being spread but should verify any information they receive with the Congressional Office at telephone number 432-9017.
The solon said he believes that their objective is to discredit him and make people become disappointed.
Gasataya is appealing to those spreading misinformation to avoid doing things that could put the health of the public at risk especially during this pandemic.*
