Eleven of the 24 local government units in Negros Occidental have fully utilized the Sinovac vaccines sent to them by the provincial government on July 7, for the inoculation of their priority residents.

The 11 LGUs with 100 percent vaccine utilization included the municipalities of EB Magalona, Isabela, Murcia, Ilog, and Candoni, and the cities of Escalante, Sagay, Victorias, La Carlota, Bago and Victorias, a report of the Provincial Incident Management Team showed.

The PIMT transported 6,267 doses of Sinovac vaccine to 24 LGUs, with only 1,021 doses unutilized, registering a 83.71 percent utilization.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said yesterday the cities of Silay and Talisay are asking for 1,000 doses each for a single day utilization, and Victorias City is also asking for more.

The 34,800 doses of Sinovac vaccine received by the provincial government last week from the Department of Health, have yet to be fully utilized by LGUs, with 50 percent being reserved as second dose, Diaz said.

“As long as our LGUs have complied with the requirements to fully utilize all the vaccines sent to them, we will keep on delivering new supplies of vaccines to them,” he added.*
