Four more personnel of the Department of Public Works and Highways 4th Engineering District Office in Bago City tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Ceander Rosquillo of the City Health Office, who is in charge of monitoring the COVID-19 cases in Bago, said last night that the patients came in contact with a virus-hit DPWH employee.

The first patient, a male DPWH personnel, came in contact with an Authorized Person Outside Residence (APOR) from Victorias City, who tested positive for the virus, after visiting the Land Transportation Office in Bacolod City on July 17.

Of the four new Covid-19 patients, two are from Binalbagan, and one each from Bago and Pulupandan, she said.

They also found out that one of the new patients had manifested COVID-19 symptoms before she came in contact with the first DPWH case, Rosquillo said.

On July 16, the patient, a Bago resident, already had a fever, and she lost her sense of smell and taste on July 22.

“Upon our investigation, there is a conflicting account (of the activities) because she manifested the symptoms before coming in contact with the other patient after July 17,” Rosquillo said.

She added the patients are under quarantine at the city’s facility.

Meanwhile, the DPWH employees in the district have gone on home quarantine, while their office was recommended to be closed temporarily.

She said that 55 DPWH employees who reside in Bago and nine family members and other contacts were already swabbed for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test.

She added that 62 more DPWH personnel will also be swabbed for RT-PCR testing.*
