The Negros Occidental provincial government adopted a four-day work week and a day of work from home starting Monday, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Capitol-based offices will be closed on Fridays, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said in a memorandum.
The new work arrangement, adopted in the interest and exigency of the service and the protection of the employees of the provincial government, will be enforced until revoked or amended in writing, he said.
Lacson said the office hours will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, and Friday is a work-from-home day.
Heads of departments and offices will be responsible for assigning work to all employees during their work from home schedule, he said.
However, work arrangements for Provincial Health Office employees and those whose services are required on a daily basis will be made to ensure that work continues uninterrupted, without depriving them of a 4-day work week.
“This to give a breather to our health workers, who need a time-out from the rigors of their job during the pandemic,” the governor said.*
