Students of the La Castellana Elementary School in Negros Occidental will have a new library to visit when face-to-face classes resume.

This was after former Lin-ay sang Negros Vi-Anne Cadianza and husband, Alex Calipusan, turned over the library to school officials, through Vi-Anne’s parents, Eva and Wilfredo Cadianza, recently.

The Calipusan couple resides in Las Vegas, USA, and has set-up Uplift Foundation International to serve as conduit for their give-back projects in their hometowns.

Vi-Anne hails from La Castellana and is an alumna of LCES while Alex comes from the political Calipusan family in Loboc, Bohol.

In a message read by Vi-Anne’s father, she said they are humbled by the opportunity to contribute to her hometown.

“Through reading, we open the world of imagination. It is our hope and prayer that this library will ignite the dreams and aspirations of the students. With God’s grace, believe in yourselves, and dare to dream big,” she said.

Vi-Anne also reminded the teachers of their role in nurturing their students, particularly during this time of the pandemic. “You are the gifts to your pupils. Teach them to understand the message these books bring and may you continue to be an inspiration to the children of La Castellana.” The library was recently inaugurated in the presence of LCES heads Cayetano Malabug and Shirley Marquez.*
