The cities of Talisay, Silay, and Victorias received P1 million in cash assistance each, and the municipality of EB Magalona, P500,000, from the Bacolod City government, through executive assistant to the mayor Jose Maria Vargas, yesterday.

Vargas, with Administration and Training section chief Bernadeth Montelibano and two other personnel of the city Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, visited the concerned local government units in the 3rd District of Negros Occidental yesterday to turn over the cash assistance, in behalf of Mayor Evelio Leonardia and the city of Bacolod, a press release said.

The four LGUs were placed under a state of calamity due to heavy flooding last month. Leonardia earlier made an appeal to the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council to allocate cash grants to the LGUs. The BCDRRMC then convened and approved the appeal on Jan. 15, and the resolution was ratified by the Sangguniang Panlungsod during their 81st regular session on Jan. 20 via Zoom teleconferencing.*
