Livino Duran, former provincial environment and natural resources officer of Negros Occidental, has been designated by Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Roy Cimatu as officer-in-charge of the DENR in Western Visayas.
Duran replaced Francisco Milla Jr., who was reassigned as DENR Region 5 director to fill the vacancy left by RD Antonio Abawag, due to his compulsory retirement from government service, Cimatu said in Special Order 2021-289, dated June 1.
Duran used to be the assistant regional director for Technical Services of DENR-Western Visayas, following his transfer from Negros Occidental to the DENR regional office in Iloilo. He also served briefly as regional director of the defunct DENR-Negros Island Region.*
