The emergency room of the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City has been COVID-19 compromised by one of its doctors, who defied Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson’s memorandum prohibiting moonlighting, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said last night.

The Medical Officer 3 was exposed while attending to a patient in a private hospital, Diaz said.

The doctor is presently exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms and his Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test result is pending DOH verification, Diaz said.

The doctor will be confined at a private hospital immediately, he added.

About 20 ER staff at the TLJPH will be swabbed and their samples tested for COVID-19, Diaz said.

The ER of the TLJPH will be decontaminated today, he said.

Meanwhile, ER services will be transferred to a tent in the hospital grounds, he added.*
