Operatives of the Philippine National Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Negros Oriental seized suspected shabu, worth P3.4 million from an elderly woman, during a buy-bust operation in Zone 2, Barangay Looc, Dumaguete City Wednesday afternoon.

A police report identified the arrested suspect yesterday as Evelyn Jimenez, 63, of the barangay.

Initial investigation showed that the PDEA and police operatives arrested Jimenez when she tried to sell half a kilo of suspected shabu to undercover law enforcers. Her cohort, identified as Jovic Calibo, managed to evade arrest.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being readied for filing against Jimenez and Calibo.

Operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office arrested five suspects in four buy-bust operations Wednesday and recovered about P90,000 in suspected shabu from them.

P/Major Sherlock Gabana, BCPO spokesperson, said Lesley Unabia, 33, of Purok Pedring, Barangay Estefania, was arrested at about 10:30 p.m. near his house for allegedly selling a sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer for P500.

Station 4 policemen recovered eight additional sachets of suspected shabu, weighing about seven grams and worth P47,600 from Unabia after his arrest.

Albert Cadusale, 31, of Purok Paraiso in Barangay Taloc, Bago City, Negros Occidental, was arrested at about 1 p.m. in Brgy. Cabug, Bacolod, for allegedly selling shabu. He yielded three sachets of shabu weighing 0.4 gram, and worth P3,500, Gabana said.

Station 2 policemen also arrested Carl Noel Ramos and Marimar Narvasa, of Purok Narra Baybay in Brgy. 8, at about 1:50 p.m. and seized from them four sachets of suspected shabu, worth P34,000 and weighing about five grams.
