Eco-waste management orientation held at CHMSC

The eco-waste management team of Greening CHMSC Task Force, in collaboration with the Center for External Affairs and the Supreme Student Government of the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College, conducted a half-day orientation and training to a group of faculty members, office heads and staff, and JPA personnel at the Green Building in Talisay campus on Thursday.

There were 11 participants from the Alijis campus, led by executive director Edwin Bugna and College of Computer Studies dean, Engineer Joemarie Dormido, while the 12 participants were led by executive director Rino del Castillo, and College of Business Management and Accountancy dean Marissa Quezon, a press release from the school said.

SSG president Sherwin Macahilig sang “Kapaligiran” during the opening program, and Rhoderick Samonte, chair of the Greening CHMSC Task Force and director for External Affairs, introduced the school’s policy-based ecological waste management system and gave an overview of the Earth Month observance.

Janet Estimar, team leader of the eco-waste management team, gave a lecture presentation of the school’s ecological waste management system, the proper use of the color-coded bins, the no-segregation, no-collection policy, and the coded schedule of waste collection in all offices, faculty rooms, and workstations.

Bugna and del Castillo assured to fully implement the EWMS in their campuses, the press release said. The orientation ended with a ceremonial trash-picking and segregation activity, while minimum health protocols were strictly observed, the press release added.*
