The Department of Education in Western Visayas is all set for the opening of classes through the blended mode of learning today, which is also World Teacher’s Day, DepEd regional director Ma. Gemma Ledesma said yesterday.

“Superintendents and principals have already given instructions according to the learning modality being implemented. We are praying for the safety of everyone,” Ledesma said, as students adapt to learning from home amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have responded to the call of the department and prepared for the various interventions and strategies, she said.

”We have come this far because of the concerted efforts of everyone,” said Ledesma, who greeted her colleagues a happy World Teacher’s Day.

“We give our grandest salute and our loudest claps to our indefatigable teachers. Carry on, let our love for our schoolchildren inspire us more and always keep that love burning.” Ledesma said.

“We will always remember the days and nights that we have painstakingly labored. Our sweat and tears are symbols of our genuine care, genuine love and concern for our school children. No obstacle can ever be bigger, greater or stronger and can surpass our love for our learners,” she added.

She said that, amid the challenges, she believes there will be a smooth opening of classes today.*
