It was a swift death for a Negros Occidental provincial government nurse, who tested positive for COVID-19, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said last night.

The 51-year-old male nurse from Bacolod City, assigned in Inapoy, Kabankalan City, died at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital Tuesday night, he said.

The nurse, who began to have difficulty breathing, went to the Cadiz District Hospital on his own Tuesday morning to be admitted and he was transferred to the CLMMRH as he needed to be intubated, Diaz said.

“He did not even last the night, it was so swift,” Diaz said.

The COVID-19 positive test result of the nurse came out yesterday morning after he had died, Diaz added.

On Monday, the nurse was okay and was even talking to his companions, but on Tuesday, he suddenly had difficulty breathing and admitted himself, he said.

COVID-19 is a traitor virus, one is just taken swiftly without any warning, Diaz added.

The nurse is the second provincial government employee to have succumbed to COVID-19, the first being an employee of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Diaz said.*
