The number of Bacolod City policemen who tested positive for Covid-19 rose to 88, as of yesterday.

P/Lt. Liberty Indiape, BCPO spokesperson, said 10 policemen are also waiting for the release of their swab results today.

Indiape earlier said the rising number of policemen infected with Covid has slightly affected police operations but many of them are already recuperating and may go back to work soon.

Bacolod City recorded its highest single day new Covid cases yesterday at 180.

Executive director Em Ang of the Emergency Operations Center said that the last time that Bacolod had this number of new infections in a day was on September 3 last year, when 182 individuals tested positive.

HOSPITAL USE STABLE

She said the hospital utilization rate remained stable at 67 to 70 percent, as of yesterday, and some hospital beds intended for the city’s Covid patients are being occupied by non Bacolod residents.

Ang said the rising number of cases in Bacolod could affect the quarantine status of the city that will be under the Modified General Community Quarantine until May 31, as decided by the National Inter-Agency Task Force.

Under the DOH guidelines, the 14-day trend of Covid cases will be looked into before a reclassification of the quarantine status of an area could be done.

Ang said that, as of yesterday, no additional city government employee tested positive for Covid.

MAYOR CHECKS ROLLOUT

Meanwhile, Mayor Evelio Leonardia, with Ang and SM City Bacolod public relations manager May Castro, checked on the vaccination rollout at the mall yesterday.

The five-day vaccination at SM, from May 3 to 7, is being held at the Cinema lobby, and will cater to the remaining frontline healthcare workers, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities.

EOC deputy for medical, Dr. Chris Sorongon, facilitated the vaccination yesterday.

A total of 433 Bacolodnons were inoculated on Tuesday, and 291 on Monday at the mall.

FIRST COME – FIRST SERVED

The schedule of vaccination is based on a first-come, first-served sequence, in the order that the registration came into the city’s database.

For crowd control and physical distancing protocols, walk-ins are not allowed. To avail of the free vaccination, those interested should register online through tinyurl.com/bcdceironline.*
