A councilor of Bacolod City and his wife were confined in a private hospital after they tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019.
This was confirmed by a family member of the councilor to the DAILY STAR yesterday, who requested that their identities be kept confidential.
He said the couple had been confined since Friday last week but he has no idea yet as to their latest medical bulletin.
But he said the last information he received was that they are both doing well and are now recuperating.
He added that they have been swabbed along with several others, who had come in close contact with the couple, and they tested negative.
Meanwhile, the People’s Hall of Brgy. Bata in Bacolod was placed on lockdown for a week, starting yesterday, following the death of the barangay secretary due to Covid Saturday.
Bata Captain Lito Abaring said the closure will pave the way for disinfection, adding that the secretary had not reported for work since April 19.
Abaring said the secretary died 3 p.m. Saturday and his remains were already cremated.
The secretary reportedly experienced mild symptoms and tested positive for Covid on Saturday.*
