Coronavirus hits more cops in WV

The number of police personnel assigned in Western Visayas who tested positive for Covid-19 had risen to 1,029, as of yesterday.

Of the infected police personnel, including Philippine National Police civilian employees, 848 have already recovered, with 176 active cases and five deaths, the PNP Health Service said.

Of the 176 active cases, 22 are assigned at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office and five at the Bacolod City Police Office.

The new infections include the seven cases reported yesterday. The PNP Health Service also logged eight recoveries at the Capiz and Iloilo provincial police offices, regional headquarters, and the National Support Units.

The Iloilo PPO had the most number of active cases at 36, followed by Antique PPO – 26, ICPO – 25, Capiz PPO – 20, RHQ – 12, NSU – 11, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion6 – 2. Of the five fatalities, two had been assigned at NOCPPO, and one each from the ICPO, RHQ, and NSU, the report added. All of them were not vaccinated, the report also said.*
