The Rotary Club of Bacolod-Marapara inducted its new set of officers for 2021-2022, with Rolando “Boboy” Corona as the 28th president.

The induction was held at the Acacia Hotel in Bacolod City on July 1, with immediate past district governor Louie Gonzaga of Rotary District 3850 as the inducting officer, a press release from the club said.

Corona was ushered into the one-year term by his predecessor, Trixie Villavicencio, who turned over the bell and gavel as a symbol of the transfer of power and authority.

“The ongoing pandemic has not stopped Rotary’s mission to serve. I thank the enthusiasm and commitment of our members for such a successful Rotary Year of community projects,” Villavicencio said.

In accepting the club leadership, Corona thanked the members for their support and expressed his excitement working in this new Rotary year, with the theme, “Rotary Serve to Change Lives”.

“Rest assured I will do all in my power to lead the club towards the accomplishment of our goals and fulfillment of our vows to serve the community,” he said.

Five new members were also inducted, as were officers of the Rotaract Club of Marapara, led by incoming president Carmela Kristina Duenas.

Guest speaker was Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical data and analysis of the Bacolod Emergency Operations Center, and past president of the Rotary Club of Bacolod.

He emphasized the importance of teamwork and commitment, and urged all club members to get vaccinated and encourage relatives, employees, and friends to do the same, the press release added.*
