At least five persons will be invited by the police to shed light on the killing of a Filipino-Omani businessman, whose body was found in a grassy portion along Palanca Street at the Bacolod Reclamation area Tuesday.

Station 2 deputy chief, P/Lt. Andy Ofalia, said the five were the last persons seen with Ahmed Haj, 34, of Regent Pearl Homes Subdivision in Brgy. Alijis, before he was found dead.

Ofalia said that Haj’s live-in partner, who was not named, told the police that they have an online business but she did not disclose further details about it.

He said Haj’s money was recovered but his cellular phone was missing. Ofalia admitted that they are still in limbo as to Haj’s killer and the motive for the killing.

Ofalia reiterated that Haj was killed somewhere and his body dumped in the area where he was found, because residents living nearby did not hear any commotion before the body was discovered.

In Talisay City, a laborer was found dead in a sugarcane field in Hacienda Sagrado 2, Brgy. Zone 16, at about 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The police identified the victim as Bryan Barredo, 24, of Brgy. 1, Bacolod City, who sustained gunshot wounds in the head and chest.

The police also theorized that he was killed somewhere and then dumped in the area, adding that Barredo was arrested before for illegal drugs.*
