BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The body of a man believed to be a salvage victim was found in a sugarcane field Monday in Hacienda Nalipay, Brgy. 5, Isabela, Negros Occidental.

P/Capt. Joseph Partidas, Isabela police officer-in-charge, however, said yesterday that the victim, who was hogtied and his head covered with duct tape, has not been identified, as of this time.

Partidas described the victim to be 40 to 50 years old, medium in build, and wearing only maong shorts when his body with tattoos was discovered in the area.

Initial investigation of the Isabela police showed the victim had been strangled with a wire, and had slash injuries in his neck, aside from stab wounds.

Partidas said the victim may have been dumped in the area, as no one among hacienda residents and neighboring places could identify him.
He urged those who may have a missing family member to check the Nalagon funeral parlor for identification purposes.

BUY-BUSTS

Three buy-bust operations held Monday in Negros Occidental led to the apprehension of three drug suspects and seizure of P56,000 worth of suspected shabu.

Nabbed during a buy-bust operation in Barra Bat-os, Brgy. Mambulac, Silay City, was John Donieza, of Zamora Street, Brgy. 3 of the city.

The apprehension of Donieza yielded about seven grams of suspected shabu worth P47,600 and P500 in marked money.

Another drug suspect, identified as Rene Ibanez, alias Bonbon, was arrested by the police in Brgy. Calubang, Ilog, Negros Occidental, with a gram of suspected shabu, worth P6,800, a cellular phone and P500 in marked money.

Rollen Jolito is also now in jail, following his arrest in Purok Esmeralda, Brgy. Poblacion, Bago City, for violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The operation yielded P300 in marked money, four sachets of suspected shabu worth P2,040, and P350 in cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of illegal drugs, as reported by the police.*
