The Bacolod City government, upon instruction of Mayor Evelio Leonardia, distributed 9,800 face shields to vendors at Burgos, Central, and Libertad public markets, the flower market, and Manokan Country, and to drivers of jeepneys, tricycles, and trisikads.

The face shields, that came from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, were distributed by the Sectoral Concerns Office from Nov. 4 up to yesterday, a press release from the city said.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod recently passed City Ordinance 944 on the mandatory use of face shields in public places in Bacolod.

Section 3 of CO 944 states that “in addition to the mandatory use of face masks, face shields shall be used while inside supermarkets, public markets, malls, venues for meetings private or government service initiated, venues where private or government services are provided, all enclosed offices or establishments doing business, public transportation or public utility vehicles, and enclosed work places”, the press release added.*
