The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod has passed a resolution recognizing the contributions made by the Iglesia ni Cristo in the Philippines for the past 106 years and to show support to their future humanitarian efforts.

The resolution authored by Councilors Simplicia Distrito and Israel Salanga congratulated the INC on its 106th anniversary, citing Republic Act No. 9645 that declared every 27th day of July as a special national working holiday in commemoration of the founding anniversary of the INC in the Philippines.

The INC was formally established on July 27, 1914, in Punta, Santa Ana, and expanded to different areas of the country under the stewardship of Felix Ysagun Manalo. At present, INC has over a million members worldwide.

The resolution said that from the beginning, INC has continuously extended help not only for the well-being of local townspeople but also to protect the environment through its various humanitarian services and outreach programs.

For its centennial celebration, INC had created projects that the Filipino should be proud of, like the international standards and “Quack Proof” Philippine Arena in Cuidad de Vicoria, Bocaue and Santa Maria, Bulacan, the resolution added.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, INC distributed food and medicine essentials to various towns and cities in the Philippines and provided supplies for frontliners and health workers, the resolution said.*
