The Commission on Elections will hold satellite voters registration at Robinsons mall in Bacolod City although the date is yet to be finalized, city Comelec officer Kathrina Trinio-Caña, said yesterday.

Caña said that although the national Comelec had posted the schedule of the satellite registration at Robinsons mall from August 20 to 21, the date may change since the approval of the Emergency Operations Center is necessary before the activity can push through.

She said they will issue an update once the schedule of the satellite registration at the mall had been finalized.

Comelec has announced that the voters’ registration will end on September 30, adding that it is unlikely to be extended.

Bacolod has 294,330 registered voters, as of April, while 10,199 applications are awaiting approval, Comelec records show.

Caña had said that those pending are not all new registrants as some are only for correction of entries, adding that the Election Registration Board is holding a series of hearings this week to resolve those applications.

Aside from Robinsons mall, the Comelec also conducted satellite registrations at SM City and City Mall in Mandalagan.

A special registration for the youth was also held at St. Joseph School La Salle last week while another registration for young Bacolodnons is scheduled next month to coincide with the World Youth Day.*
