Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu led a meeting with the Bacolod Emergency Operations Center Task Force at the Bacolod City Government Center yesterday to discuss measures to quell the rising COVID-19 cases in Bacolod, City Administrator Em Ang said.

The COVID-19 positive cases in Bacolod City last week averaged 105 a day, she said.

There were also 71 new COVID-19 positive cases in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City yesterday, the Department of Health also reported.

Bacolod City had 30 new cases, one death, and 77 who recovered from the virus, the DOH reported.

This brings Bacolod’s total COVID-19 cases to 1,315 and 26 deaths, the DOH said.

Negros Occidental had 41 new COVID-19 cases, bringing its total to 1,196 with 8 deaths, it added.

Ang said Cimatu, overseer of the Task Force COVID-19 in Cebu, was accompanied by retired general Mel Feliciano, the task force’s deputy overseer, and a team from the DOH Region 7.

They taught us steps they undertook when Cebu was experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak pretty much like ours, Ang said.

Our COVID-19 figures is much like what was experienced in Cebu in April, Ang said.*
