The Central Negros Electric Cooperative has increased its rates for this month.

In its advisory yesterday, the utility firm informed its consumers that residential rate for this month is now at P10.5943 per kilowatt hour, from P10.2716 per kWh last month, or an increase of P0.3227 per kWh.

Ceneco general manager Jose Taniongon said the hike can be attributed to the increase in the generation, transmission, and system loss charges.

The pass-through charges, equivalent to P9.4077 per kWh of the total power rates, include the generation and transmission charges, Energy Regulatory Commission-approved adjustments, government subsidies and taxes, he said.

He said that only P1.1866 per kWh of the power rate goes to Ceneco through distribution, supply, metering charges and reinvestment fund for sustainable capital expenditure for its administrative and operational services.

He added that Ceneco has not increased its DSM and RFSC rates since 2010.

He advised member-consumers to take note of their kilowatt-hour consumption and not the amount, adding that the amount may vary, depending on the pass-through charges.

He also reminded consumers to conserve energy to avoid paying high electricity bills.

Ceneco serves the cities of Bacolod, Bago, Talisay, and Silay, and the towns of Murcia and Salvador Benedicto.*
