Capitol to review SOP in receiving supplies

BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The provincial government of Negros Occidental is reviewing its Standard Operating Procedure in accepting shipments of supplies from the Procurement Service-Department of Budget and Management in Manila, after 10 of 15 employees of the Capitol’s Procurement Services Depot tested positive for Covid-19.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said yesterday that he suspects that the supplies from DBM-Manila, received by the Procurement Services Depot, may have carried the virus.

Diaz said they will start sanitizing the supplies from PS-DBM, before distribution to the offices of the provincial government.

The 10 infected depot employees and nine from the Capitol, who tested positive for Covid, are quarantined at the Mambukal Mountain Resort in Murcia, he added.

The Procurement Depot has been disinfected, and contact tracing is ongoing, Diaz said.

He also said that the 28 close contacts of Capitol employees earlier found to have been infected have tested negative, based on swab results yesterday.

“I hope that this is the beginning of a trend that infection will no longer spread at the Capitol workplace,” Diaz said. He reiterated his advice for employees who are not feeling well not to report for work, until they have received health clearance.*
