The provincial government has released an additional P18.5 million in financial assistance to the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Negros Occidental.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson turned over the check to Provincial Schools Division Superintendent Marsette Sabbaluca in rites held at the Capitol in Bacolod City on Thursday.
Of the total amount, P12 million will be used for the construction and improvement of the facilities of various elementary and secondary schools in the municipalities of Cauayan, Binalbagan, and La Castellana.
The remaining P6.5 million represents the assistance for the DepEd Seal of Excellence program.
In July, the provincial government also provided P9 million in assistance to DepEd-Negros Occidental.
The amount was used for the upgrading of public school facilities in the municipalities of Calatrava, Candoni, and Isabela, that received P3 million each.
Last May, Lacson also turned over a P7-million check to Sabbaluca as financial assistance to improve the facilities of 64 elementary and secondary schools.
“The main goal of the DepEd Division of Negros Occidental is to endeavor that education will continue even in times of disruptions,” she earlier said.
Sabbaluca also said through the assistance, they would be able to improve the facilities of the recipient-schools so they could provide a conducive environment for learners and school personnel.*PNA
