Residents in four cities and two towns of Negros Occidental will experience massive power outages today.

The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative, in an advisory, said an 8-hour outage, starting 8 a.m. today, will affect barangays Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 4, Zone 5, Daga, and portion of Brgy. Zone 3 in Cadiz City, due to the massive clearing of the 3-phase primary line along Cabahug Street.

The Central Negros Electric Cooperative said it will also conduct maintenance activities of its 10MVA power transformer and replace electrical poles in Brgy. Sum-ag, Bacolod City, so residents of barangays Sum-ag, Punta Taytay, Pahanocoy, Handumanan, Felisa, and Cabug will have no electricity from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This will also affect electricity supply in the boundary of Bago City and Brgy. Blumentritt in Murcia.

Ceneco said this is to ensure the reliability of distribution lines to avoid further serious damages that may result in major interruptions.

Clearing operations of the single phase and secondary lines near the boundary of Brgy. Sikatuna in Isabela and Bario Luz in Guihulngan, Negros Oriental, will affect power supply in the area from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative said. Noceco is also set to transfer its 69KV phase line poles in Hacienda Paz, Brgy. Batuan and in Hacienda Caman-og, Brgy. Cubay in La Carlota City, that will result in power outage from 8 a.m. to noon today.*
