The body of a man, with a nylon rope tied around his neck and had wounds in the head and neck, was found in a sack left at a swamp area in Purok Malipayon, Barangay 35 in Bacolod City, at about 7:10 a.m. yesterday.
P/Maj. Jovil Sedel, Station 1 chief, said the victim was wearing a white shirt and gray pants and was still unidentified up to last night.
A penetrating injury was also noted in his forehead, Sedel said.
He added that the police cannot determine yet the exact cause of death of the victim but it could have been caused either by someone hitting his head with hard objects or he was shot.
He said no one in the barangay was able to identify the victim since no identification card was found on the body, only two rings and coins.
Sedel said their initial investigation showed that the victim may have been killed somewhere and dumped in the area.
Scene of the Crime operatives processed the area and brought the body to the Abe Funeral Homes in Bacolod.*
