Despite several operations last month, the market value of the illegal drugs seized was 56.3 percent lower than that of June, the Bacolod City Police Office Public Community Relations said yesterday.
Last month, BCPO confiscated 115.913 grams of illegal drugs, valued at P788,208, from 52 drug-bust operations conducted, compared to 211.712 grams of illegal drugs, worth P1.4 million, seized in 49 operations conducted in June, the records show.
The BCPO arrested 73 street level drug personalities and filed 89 cases in court last month while they were able to apprehend and charged only 62 drug personalities in June.
P/Major Sherlock Gabana, BCPO spokesperson, said the reason for their dismal drug haul last month was that most drug peddlers have changed their modes of selling.
Gabana said that before, drug peddlers would bring extra supplies of illegal drugs when meeting a client but now, they only carry the exact items ordered.
The BCPO also reported the arrest of 52 individuals for various offenses last month, and 12 of them were considered most-wanted personalities in Bacolod.
ILLEGAL GUNS, GAMBLING
Six loose firearms were also surrendered to the BCPO while another one was recovered in a police operation, records show.
Of the 12 illegal gambling operations conducted last month, 43 were arrested, 24 cases were filed, and about P2,500 in bet money recovered.*
