Three police stations and a special unit of the Bacolod City Police Office have new chiefs.

P/Lt. Col. Ariel Pico, BCPO public information officer, said yesterday that four police officials, Lt. Rondyl Tapang, P/Capt. John Christopher Masangkay, P/Capt. Elmer Bonilla, and Lt. Jonito Pastrana went on career-enhancement schooling.

Tapang’s deputy, P/Executive Master Sgt. Jerry Goricita, now heads the Mobile Patrol Unit, while Lt. Melchor Tolentino succeeded Masangkay as chief of Station 5, that covers barangays Granada and Alangilan.

Lt. Danilo Lauron replaced Bonilla as Station 6 head, while Lt. Gilbert Batiles, the deputy of Pastrana, is now the Station 9 officer-in-charge.

Station 6 covers barangays 28, 30, 31, 33, 40 and Taculing, while under the jurisdiction of Station 9 are barangays Cabug, Punta-Taytay, and Sum-ag.

Meanwhile, 40 police officers from the Regional Mobile Force Company-6, who were deployed when Moises Padilla town in Negros Occidental was placed under the control of the Commission on Elections during the midterm elections last year, are now augmenting the BCPO after Bacolod was placed on Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine, Pico added.

DRUGS

Sachets of suspected shabu were seized from a man in Purok Tangigue, Barangay 1 in Bacolod, at about 2:45 p.m. yesterday.

Nicole Fang, 25, is classified as a street-level individual, the Bacolod City Police Office said, adding that five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu and two medium-sized plastic sachets of “shabu”, all weighing about 2 grams and worth P13,600, and an empty plastic sachet were recovered from Fang.

Station 2 personnel were patrolling the area against violators of health protocols when they caught Fang. He is now detained at the custodial facility of Station 2 and may face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.*
