About 14,000 individuals in Bacolod City have been caught violating various health protocols, as of May 9.
Of the number, P/Lt. Col. Lester Leada, deputy city director for Operations of the Bacolod City Police Office, said that 4,837 were caught for not wearing face masks.
Leada said 3,902 were nabbed for violating the curfew ordinance, while 3,340 had no face shields, especially while on public utility vehicles.
He said 1,333 violated the existing liquor ban, and 1,394 failed to comply with the one-meter required distance.
But Leada stressed that in the past few weeks, they noted a decrease in the number of health protocol violators. He attributed this to the fact that many are now aware that the city is serious in its campaign to curb the further spread of Covid-19.
The BCPO had issued citation tickets to those apprehended for violating the health protocols.
P/Lt. Liberty Indiape, BCPO spokesperson, again reminded the public to abide with minimum health protocols to avoid being fined or made to do community service. Indiape said those caught violating the health protocols are fined P200 each if they are from Bacolod, and P300 for out-of-town residents.*
