Two vintage mortar bombs sold to a local junkshop will be detonated by the Bacolod City Police Explosive and Ordnance Division this week.
P/Corporal Ronald Rillo, a member of the BCPO-EOD team, said in a radio interview that the owner of the junkshop at Greenplains Subdivision in Bacolod, whom he did not identify, called them up after the bombs were sold.
Rillo said the identity of the seller was not known since he left immediately when the junkshop owner called the police.
He added that, based on their initial finding, the bombs with markings 1960s are dangerous and could still explode, and reminded the public and junkshop owners to immediately report such incident to the police.
Meanwhile, Station 7 policemen arrested a fighting cock breeder in a buy-bust operation in Purok JJ. Gonzaga, Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, at about 8:20 p.m. Saturday.
P/Lt. Michael Tuburan, station commander, identified the suspect as Neil Villafuerte, 51, of Maya Street in the purok, who is considered as a street level drug peddler. Tuburan said they recovered P300 in marked money and a heat-sealed transparent sachet of suspected shabu, weighing about four grams and worth P27,200, from Villafuerte, who is now detained at the lock-up cell of the police station and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.*
