A barber and a tricycle driver died in stabbing and shooting incidents in barangays 11 and Taculing in Bacolod City yesterday and Thursday.

Arnold Bay King, 44, of Purok Progreso, Brgy. Taculing, was driving his tricycle with a female passenger at about 9 p.m. Thursday near the gate of Sharina Heights Subdivision in the barangay when two men on a motorcycle blocked his way, Station 6 commander, P/Major Leo Estopa, said.

Estopa said one of the suspects shot King in the head with an unknown caliber of firearm that caused his instantaneous death. The passenger was left unharmed while the suspects fled after the incident.

He added that they are still determining the motive behind the killing of King, who, he said, was not in their drugs watch list. He added they are going to review the videos recorded by closed-circuit television cameras in the area to identify the suspects.

Meanwhile, an alleged failed illegal drugs transaction reportedly caused the death of barber Ritchard Cahutay, 49, of Brgy. 11, Station 1 commander, P/Major Ramel Sarona, said.

Investigation showed that Cahutay confronted the suspect, identified as a certain Victor Rojo, after the latter allegedly sold him a piece of candy instead of shabu on Wednesday, and a verbal tussle ensued.

Sarona said Cahutay left but Rojo’s four unidentified companions followed and mauled him, adding that the suspect stabbed him in the chest and that resulted in his immediate death.*
