The Bacolod City Social Welfare and Development Office will distribute P31,310,000 in emergency cash subsidy to residents starting tomorrow until Saturday.

City Social Welfare and Development head Pacita Terro said the amount will be distributed to 5,185 qualified recipients, who will each receive P6,000 in cash.

The beneficiaries have been waitlisted to receive the assistance.

Terro said the distribution will be made through the respective barangays of the recipients.

She assured that more residents will receive emergency cash subsidy although the distribution for the remaining recipients will be scheduled on a later date.

The CSWDO had identified at least 9,000 recipients of the cash subsidy grant under the Bayanihan Act 2 law, signed by President Rodrigo Duterte, in the light of the coronavirus pandemic.

The CSWDO is also collating data on the total number of households that were affected by the series of lockdowns since September 11.

This is because CSWDO is set to distribute P6,000 each to affected low-income earning families  as financial assistance, on top of the P6,000 Social Amelioration Program grant, Terro said.

She clarified that the amount of the grant will be the same regardless of how many Covid positive patients have been identified in a household.

Meanwhile, Terro said that a Covid patient who incurred high expenses for his or her hospitalization may also apply for medical assistance through the Aid to Individual under Crisis Situation program. However, she said, the approval will depend on the evaluation under the Bayanihan Act 2.*
