Fastcraft operator Frank Carbon said they are waiting for the approval of the city governments of Bacolod and Iloilo to resume operations.
Fast crafts plying the Bacolod and Iloilo routes suspended operations for almost five months already, following the travel restrictions in the two localities.
Carbon said yesterday that Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas is asking for one week from October 1 before he decides.
“He wants to consult his doctors and the Iloilo business group, but he sounded positive on our request for ferry trip resumption,” Carbon added.
He said the city government of Bacolod is also endorsing their request.
He said the resumption of fastcraft trips will help in the slow recovery of businesses, “fear (of Covid-19) and loss of income are our two biggest enemies,” he added.
He said that inter-island trading is one of the biggest contributors to job and livelihood creation.
Bacolod City is under general community quarantine starting yesterday.*
