Mayor Evelio Leonardia received a “Special Citation” plaque for Bacolod City, being a national finalist in the 2020 Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit (LGU) awards, given by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The special citation was in recognition of Bacolod’s “commendable efforts in adopting and instituting innovative and best practices in good governance and investment promotion in partnership with the private sector, significantly benefiting its business community and citizenry”, a press release from the city said.

The plaque was sent to the Bacolod City Government Center recently through John Orola, special consultant on tourism, trade, and investment.

Bacolod City received the award during the virtual awarding ceremony of the 46th Philippine Business Conference and Expo. Leonardia said the award was given based on the 2019 performance of LGUs, and last year, among other positive developments in the local economy, Bacolod broke new ground in recording the highest number of total business registrations at 25,627, the press release added.*
