Policemen will be deployed in various beaches and mountain resorts in Bacolod City to ensure that they will not accept visitors and operate today, in celebration of the feast of St John the Baptist.

Bacolod City police spokesperson, P/Major Sherlock Gabana, said BCPO director, P/Col Manuel Placido, ordered the strict implementation of Executive Order Number 32 of Mayor Evelio Leonardia suspending the public celebration of San Juan.

Gabana said they will not only concentrate on the resorts and cafes but also in other areas where people converge and do mass activities.

Leonardia earlier warned that those who will defy the EO will face charges for unjust vexation under Article 287 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Section 73 of RA 10951.

Beaches, mountain resorts, and cafes in coastal barangays of Bacolod will be closed today to deter the further spread of the Covid-19 disease.

Owners of resorts and cafes in barangays Pahanocoy, Punta Taytay, Alangilan and Granada, in a meeting with Leonardia last week, agreed to suspend their operations today.

The mayor also appealed to the public to cooperate and refrain from going to the beaches and resorts to mark San Juan.*
