Army engineers were deployed during the weekend in Brgy. Handumanan, Bacolod City to assist in the repair of school facilities that will be used as Covid-19 quarantine areas.
Col. Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, said yesterday that one team of Army 542nd Engineering Construction Battalion, composed of carpenters, plumbers and electricians from 542nd Engineering Construction Battalion, reinforced personnel of the City Engineer’s Office in fast-tracking the repair and renovation of isolation quarantine facilities in Bacolod City.
A total of 109 quarantine facilities are to be constructed in Bacolod, which is expected to be completed Sept. 30, based on the memorandum of agreement recently signed by Mayor Evelio Leonardia, National Action Plan vs. Covid-19 chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez, Lt. Gen. Roberto Ancan, AFP Central Command chief, and Public Works Undersecretary Emil Sadain and Health Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega.
Army engineers are involved in the fabrication of curtain frame (metal furring), wall fan installation, and repair of electrical connections, among others.
Pasaporte said that the 303rd Infantry Brigade will extend all the help they could to the Bacolod City government in the fight against the pandemic, as he also encouraged Bacolodnons to cooperate and strictly observe health protocols.
Aside from the Army engineers, the AFP Central Command in the Visayas earlier dispatched two teams of medical doctors, nurses and medical aides to Bacolod, which is now under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine status.*
