Another employee of the Sugar Regulatory Administration in Bacolod City tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019, its administrator, Hermenegildo Serafica, confirmed yesterday.

Serafica said the employee, who is a driver, had been on home quarantine since Saturday and those who had close contact with him were required to undergo self-quarantine for 14 days.

He also said that the SRA health and safety committee was tasked to do contact tracing and submit a report as soon as possible.

He said the SRA Bacolod office will continue its operations, while its janitors will do regular disinfection of the offices today, based on methods recommended by the Department of Health.

“Our outsourced disinfection service will disinfect the whole compound on Saturday,” Serafica added.

Moreover, he said that SRA has been implementing basic health protocols, such as wearing of face mask and shield at all times, observing social distancing, and frequent washing of hands.

“As long as SRA personnel follow these, there is no cause for alarm. We all know from World Health Organization and DOH that these basic health protocols are our best defense against Covid infection,” he added.

He also said that SRA guidelines mandated the use of agency shuttle that will accommodate passengers at 50 percent capacity who wear face masks and shields, and practice social distancing.

Last month, an SRA employee also tested positive for the virus.*
