The Bago City Hospital has temporarily stopped admitting patients after one of its contractual doctors from Bacolod City tested positive for coronavirus, Bago Mayor Nicholas Yulo said yesterday.
The 50-bed hospital stopped admitting patients 9 p.m. Wednesday and will be subjected to decontamination and disinfection, the mayor said.
They will not admit new patients until Monday but will accept emergency cases, he added.
Patients who could be discharged were already released, while those who could not were transferred to a section of the hospital while other areas are being disinfected, Yulo said.
Dr. Allan Abayon, BCH chief, said the COVID-19 positive female doctor works for a Bacolod BPO.
She was on duty at the BCH ward and worked 16 hours straight, underwent a COVID-19 test during the weekend and the result came out Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, he said.
About 42 persons at the BCH have been identified to have had contact with the doctor and were swabbed for COVID-19 tests, Abayon added.
They were advised not to go home and were quarantined, he said.
He said that, for now, they have very few members of their staff left working at the hospital.
IN TALISAY CITY
Meanwhile, Mayor Neil Lizares last night said that for the safety of all Talisaynons, he has directed the closure of the Talisay City Health Office emergency room today until further notice.
“This is part of the precautionary measures that we are taking which include thorough disinfection of places where people usually go,” he said.
The General Services Office and the Bids and Awards Committee Office at the new Talisay City Hall will also be closed today and will reopen on Monday, Lizares added.
He said an employee at the CHO emergency room and another at the GSO will be swabbed for COVID-19 tests today.*
