Some 14 small and backyard livestock and poultry raisers in Negros Occidental have received P4.071 million in financial assistance, Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena said yesterday.

He said they are the second batch of raisers to avail of the loan program with the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) under the Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (ACEF) of the Department of Agriculture, through the assistance of PVO technical employees.

He said that 28 animal raisers have already received the loan program package.

The ACEF program targets to increase the productivity of farmers by providing necessary credit to individual animal raisers, their cooperatives and associations, and micro and small-scale enterprises for the acquisition and establishment of production, facilities, and other farm inputs and improvement, Decena said.

He added that qualified animal raisers can avail of a maximum amount of P1-million in loan.

He said PVO remained committed to increase animal production and alleviate the financial condition of the animal raisers and their families.                   Animal raisers in the province interested to avail of the loan can visit PVO at its new office at the Multi-Purpose Building in Aguinaldo Street, Bacolod City, and look for Cathyrine Narez or William Detore of the PVO Provincial Loan Facilitation Team.*
