Silay Mayor Mark Golez and Glenn Leonardia (standing, right), handed over the cash assistance from Senator Sonny Angara, as city employees and volunteers packed relief goods for residents affected by flooding*

Senator Sonny Angara donated P100,000 each to the cities of Victorias, Silay, and Talisay in northern Negros that were affected by flooding.

Victorias City Councilor Derek Palanca, who received the cash donation in behalf of Mayor Francis Frederick “Wantan” Palanca, said they will use the money to buy additional modular tents for the evacuees.

Each tent can accommodate five to eight persons and is waterproof and durable.

The assistance turned over to Silay City Mayor Mark Golez was used to buy foodstuff, like rice, noodles, and canned goods.

Golez said Silay was hit hard by the flood, with 9,020 families or 28,811 individuals affected.

Meanwhile, Talisay City Councilor Ivan Randy Ereneta received the P100,000 in cash assistance in behalf of Mayor Neil Lizares, and said they will use it to buy rice and canned goods for their constituents.*
