Hosted by porcelain beauty Nathalie Lacson, we travelled to a time and space unblemished by the current plague that all started in China. As Lewis Caroll’s “Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass” wrote, “If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be with it isn’t. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn’t be. And what it wouldn’t be, it would. You see?”

The garden setting further transported our small groupie into a wooded enclave of elves and fairies fluttering in our minds as we sat down to a table laden with floral cups and plates set up by unica hija educator, Mademoiselle Nathalie Rubin Lacson, who effortlessly composed an assortment of finger goodies for us to savor in this fragile state of mind and spirit which we live in, nowadays. As Violeta Lopez Gonzaga pointed out, we are best formed in life to cope with what life throws us by role playing. It whisks us to worlds we never imagined could be and helps us grow in our existence. Our coping mechanism is strengthened by shifting from character to another, each different from our perceptions of our surroundings and makes survival easier as days change the situations we find ourselves in.

Astrologists are pointing out that after the total lunar eclipse we had last month, we will undergo on June 10 a solar eclipse further triggering obstacles into our consciousness until the end of the month, when Gemini presents changes in the air. So, we had finger food of various preserved imported meats, cheeses, cupcakes, ensaymadas, finger sandwiches, and pots of chocolate to accompany us during our lively conversations that dwelt on varied topics, from children growing up in today’s precarious environment, to politics and social pleasantries.

Mademoiselle Nathalie took the helm of her mother’s, Paz Rubin vda. de Lacson, kinder school, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Kinder School and has led it to become a leader in children’s educational and character development. Located in Talisay City’s Town and Country Subdivision, the English style cottage is a pleasure to behold as it provides a totally different world for our children to dream in and grow up into well-rounded individuals that is so important nowadays.

A vast collection of prized antique porcelain pieces were displayed in the Lacson Princess’ office, further transporting us to a time and place we only dream of. How lucky to be brought up in such an environment for all her privileged students. May you further the Lacson heritage of education and citizen building.

My prayer: The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17, NIV*
