There are 97 new COVID-19 positive patients in Western Visayas, 17 of whom are from Negros Occidental and nine from Bacolod City, the Department of Health reported Saturday and yesterday.

The DOH said the largest number of COVID confirmed cases in a single day in WV was yesterday with 91. There were six on Saturday.
Of the positive cases from Negros Occidental and Bacolod City, four are local residents who did not return from outside the province.

A 46-year-old male from Victorias City is a General Services Office driver and a 58-year-old female from Bago City, who is hospitalized, is the mother of a locally stranded individual (LSI) COVID-19 positive patient, Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said.

The two from Bacolod are a 23-year-old female who is facility quarantined and a 29-year-old male, who is hospitalized, the DOH said.
Dr. Grace Tan, Bacolod Inter-Agency Task Force Against COVID-19, last night said she did not know yet who the two were and would find out.

The seven other COVID-19 positive cases from Bacolod City reported during the weekend are facility quarantined LSIs.

Of the 15 others from Negros Occidental, one is an overseas Filipino worker from Sagay City and 14 are LSIs.

Of the LSIs, three each are from Calatrava and Cauayan, two from San Carlos City, and one each from Isabela, La Carlota City, Hinoba-an, Talisay City, Manapla, and Sipalay City, the DOH reported.

Western Visayas now has 461 COVID-19 positive patients, 272 of whom are active cases, 178 have recovered, and 11 have died, it added.*
