Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya said he is expecting the arrival of seven ambulances, that he has requested in 2019, to be delivered by the Department of Health this month to Bacolod City.
Gasataya said the seven units, worth about P15 million, and purchased by the national government are now with the DOH Regional Office and will be distributed to barangays Banago, Handumanan, Cabug, Felisa, Tangub, and Mansilingan since these barangays have no ambulances and are far from the city proper.
The ambulances still need insurance coverage before they can be released, being government-purchased vehicles, he added.
Gasataya recalled that he had requested for the seven ambulances from the 2019 budget but its release was delayed due to government procurement procedures and also because of the pandemic in 2020. “These units will be a big help, especially that we are facing a pandemic and can also be utilized by the city and the City Health Office,” he added.*
