A 4-year old child died on Wednesday, as a result of a shooting incident in Sitio Palasanan, Brgy. Mahalang, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

The victim identified by the Himamaylan police as John Lloyd Salgado, 4, succumbed to gunshot wounds in the nape that penetrated into his left ear.

P/Maj. Romeo Vargas, Himamaylan City police chief, said yesterday that the victim and his father, Junli, were on their way home, riding a horse, when a gunshot rang out.

The minor fell from the horse he was riding because of gunshot injuries, Vargas said.

Himamaylan police investigation showed that the father of the victim saw a certain Jigger dela Torre holding a gun, who immediately fled with his elder brother, JR, from the scene of incident.

Vargas said that the target of the shooting incident may have been the father of the victim, who previously figured in heated arguments with Jigger.

Murder charges are now being readied by the Himamaylan police for filing Monday against the dela Torre brothers, who remain at-large, as of this time.

Three persons were also injured in separate shooting incidents on the same day in Hinobaan and Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.

Ernesto Lubrico, 62, was hit in the left buttock after he was shot by a still unidentified gunman in Sitio Lagundi, Brgy. Camindangan, Sipalay City, police said.

The victim is now being treated for his gunshot injuries at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.

Richard Dianoy, 37, and Rovelito Meniel, 33, were both injured after being shot also by two suspects identified by the police as Richard Alosiman and alias Milly in Brgy. Asia, Hinobaan.

Both suspects were having a drinking spree when Dianoy approached them, in an effort to settle their old grudges.

But Dianoy was shot in the stomach, while Meniel, who came to his rescue, was also shot in both hands, according to the Hinobaan police.

The two suspects immediately fled after the shooting incident, while the two victims are now being treated for their injures at the Holy Mother of Mercy Hospital in Kabankalan City.*
