An additional 3,000 Bacolodnons are set to avail of the cash-for-work program, or the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Worker (Tupad) program of the Department of Labor and Employment in Bacolod City for the third quarter.

Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya said this is in addition to the 2,000 beneficiaries from the different barangays in Bacolod, who have availed of the ongoing program of the national government, from January to June this year.

The congressional office has requested the DOLE to accommodate 3,000 additional recipients for the months of July to September, he said.

A cash-for-work beneficiary will receive P5,000 for up to 15 days of work in their barangays, the solon added.

Gasataya said the barangays were tasked to identify beneficiaries of the program who will render work in their communities. Those who have already liquidated their previous funds from DOLE will receive fresh funds for the third quarter.

“We will request for the funds, and this will be downloaded directly to the barangays for the implementation of the program,” he said.

The cash-for-work program is a short-term intervention of the national government to provide temporary employment to distressed/displaced individuals by participating in or undertaking preparedness, mitigation, relief, rehabilitation or risk reduction projects and activities in their communities or evacuation centers.*
